Honestly, I thought that writing an 88,000 word novel while renovating a house, holding down a demanding job and navigating the hottest summer since records began with an eight month old pregnancy bump, and subsequently with a tiny, very very vocal babe in arms, was as hard as it was going to get. But, no. It turns out the writing of a novel - no matter what the surrounding environment or circumstances - is the easy bit. The hardest bit is putting it "out there". And if you're an introvert like me (yes, believe it or not, despite the filthy narratives I can put down on paper, the idea of anyone actually reading them makes me feel slightly faint) the task becomes even harder. So, wish me luck!
I guess a good starting point is to tell you a little bit about my novel, right? Well, how about I start here, with the blurb? Hopefully, you'll like what you read and come back for an update on the next step of my promo journey ;)
Here goes ...
Lottie Matheson has everything going for her: wealth and privilege, single-minded ambition and a brand new graduate job in the thick of London’s thrilling start-up scene.
But Lottie Matheson isn’t who she seems. Hiding behind a false identity to distance herself from a troubled background, Lottie becomes embroiled in an affair with her brilliant and charismatic but famously attached CEO Marcus Armstrong. But, as their relationship intensifies, their colleagues become suspicious and before long, the secrets are out. All of them.
With everything broken – her heart, her reputation, her spirit – will Lottie ever find the strength to start again?
Basically, dear readers, I wrote the book I wanted to read. Unfortunately, I happen to follow a lot of agents and publishers and I've known a few of them to say that's the worst thing you can do. Whoops! All I can say is I hope my readers enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. A Class Act will be on sale on Amazon, Apple iBooks, Google Play, Kobo, Nook and other good online retailers from 1st July.
